Confident Parenting for Confident Kids
When you grow up in a family with high expectations, hell, a community with high expectations, it can be hard to ever feel good enough. Unless you're an overachiever, in which case you were the one the rest of us were always trying to measure up to (and let's be honest, your success may well have been driven by a type A personality as a result of being highly self-critical i.e. you didn't really feel good enough either).
In this world of high standards, everyone is expected to excel and the way your excellence is measured is
at a young age through looking presentable and being polite (i.e. being compliant), then
getting fantastic grades at every opportunity and later
going on to have a respectable job and earn lots of money.
Money.
It's a well-favoured indicator of success because it's so easy to measure; how much do you earn, how many square foot is the house you could afford, how many nice cars do you have, how many holidays do you take each year (before Covid sucker-punched that one!)...the list is endless.
And yet, when we're around people that measure our success in this way, it can be easy (particularly at points when we feel more vulnerable in life) to measure ourselves in the same way. Instead of seeing the value we bring each and every day to the people around us, we see ourselves through this one-dimensional measuring system. Don't get me wrong, money and more accurately, financial security, is important but it is by no means the only measure of success.
So if I asked you what the most important things are when it comes to raising your children, money may be a factor. An abundance of money would allow you to provide well for them, to care for them, offer them opportunities in the way of education, culture and much more.
But what else would form your success criteria?
I believe when we strip it back the greatest gift we can give our children are the skills they need to be resilient, confident, expressive human beings. We will be talking about all this and more on Thursday.
I will talk you through the 3 C’s of raising children confidently and purposefully while being cognisant of our own experiences and belief systems.
The webinar offers you an important opportunity to take a step back from the day to day busyness and firefighting that is family life and gives you a chance to look at how to enhance your relationships to find more fun and deep connection with your loved ones.

Parent Pop-in; “How was your day?”
4th March 2021, 4.30pm on Facebook.
Join us in ‘My wellness Zone’ (or join the facebook group above for the link).
After schools open again on 8th March (for those of us in England) we will desperately want to share the experience with our children, but can we find a way without adding to their mental load?
We will be live to explore questioning techniques when connecting with our children and how to support them rather than adding pressure.
